He was an experienced gold prospector in tho North Islaud and was the earliest prospector in tho Martha Hill area to discover payable oro in the famous Martha lodc. Mr Nicholl, who was 85 years of age, had i-omarkablc cxperionccs on various goldficlds, ixicluding tho Klondilco and Fiji. i
