Injured Natives Before Court

DUNEDIN, Last Night. As a result of a fracas between two brothers at tho Maori pa at Moeraki on July 2, Ira Panapa Porete, who waa nursing a broken left ara, was charged at the Palmerston Police Court to-day with doing grevious bodily harm to his brother, Paane Reweti Porete, who had two fingers nearly severed and was severely wounded in the head. Mr„ H. W. Bundle, S.M., was on the Bench. The quarrel was the result Of accused's housekeeper, Eva May Johnston, a widow, changing her quarters to accqsed's brother 's house, where she had furniture removed from aocus'ed's house. Accused w'ent to' the house of his brother, where, he said, the latter fired a shotgun at ihim. Paane Porete said he went outside, where accused attacked him with a gorse clasher, and saiti: "I'll murder you. " \ Accused, pleading not guilty, was committed to the Suprcme Court for .'trial, bail in self for £250 being lallowed.
