Hedges Preferred

P.E.Y.

Sir, — It was a great pleasure to read Mrs Preston-Thomas 's letter in your issue of Friday evening. Fancy Cornwall Park with hydrangea skeletons in place of beautiful green hedges all the winter. No shelter from a keen wind on a sunny day. It used to be a delight to sit near the Women 's Rest and listen to the birds and watch them building their nests, but now — the pity of it, We do not want to *opy America wit,h " >te blatant love of skite and blather. Why not have our houses made of some transparent material, such as glass, to rob us of our last hope of common dece'ncy? I hope Mrs Preston-Thomas will call a meeting to protest against the wholosale destructive vandalism now going on in our fine town. I hope, too, that sho gete a real good crowd of sensible people to support her and keep the good work going. — Yours, etc%
