PORT AHURIRI GUILD HOLDS AUGUST MEETING

The August meeting of the Port Ahuriri Townswomen's Guild was held in St. Andrew's Hall. Owing to Mrs Sutherlands indisposition Mrs Cameron, president, took the chair and opened the meeting with the Ode and Aspirations. There was a fair attendance of members. The roll call, "Uses of potatoes, other than for cooking," brought forth some very useful and varied hints, very few paying the 6ne. Mrs D. Harvey gave a taJk on floral decorations, and showed how to arrdnge float bowls and baskets to the best advantage. A vote of tlianks was accorded the speaker for her interesting dcmonstration. The apron competition was well contested, Mrs Borset gaining the prize in the fancy section, and Mrs Addison first in the plain section.
