New Zealand Team 8 Competing (Eeeeived 7, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 6. The men's hoekey championship of Australia begaii at the sports ground Sydney, to-day, in ideal weather. Ten teams representihg all Australian States • and New Zealand are taking part. The visiting teams, ineluding the New Zealanders, were given a civic reception this morning. New Zealand's first garne will be against f^ew South Wales to-morrow. The matches to-day resulted as follows. — Tasmania drew with Western Australia," 2—2. * * Queensland .defeat'ed Victoria, 4 — .1.
