WITH THE HOUNDS
Day's Superb Sport at Tikokino [Contributed.j The Hawke 's Bay bounds met at tho Sawyer's Arms, Tikokino., on Saturday, and a large field moved olf to draw the country bounding the rivpr. A strong hare was drawn which took the field acroes the river and back to the ploughed ground and over the road double. Hounds, running farat, crossed the flats and went to the totara hills, wliere, owing to the numerous hares, they had fipally tp be whipped olf behind tlie Tikokino sports ground owing to forbidden copntry. Here the field gave Ihe horses a much-needed rest for 2d minutes. After that, some time was epent whipping hOUUds off, Each of the lines picked up ran to the barred country. The master decided tp return to the riverbed on Mr Eddy's property, aiid as the field was going down the main road hounds sighted a hare, which rau down thp road and skirted the plougU, and the full cry hounds finally killed this auarry on the top of the steep
river-bank. The best draw of the day was made below the ploughed river flats, and the line took the hunt tp the top of the range of hills across the Smedley road and opposite tp Mr Matthews's homegtead, Unfortunately hounds again had j to be whipped off, And the master calied home as it was 3.30.
