MAN OF THE PEOPLE. Life ifself is fche best show. This seems to be demonstrated again with telling effect in the new picture "Man of the People," which screens at the Cosy Theatre to-night. Joseph Calleia, that talented actor ivho heretof'ore has been a screeu villain/ now beeomes a hero and ?n interehting one in this story bv Frank Do!an, xormer New York aewspaper man, based doubtlessly on liis cv.-n cbservations as a, news gatherer. Calleia^ portrays the familiar role of an honest lawyer pitted against the crooks of a big city. A poor boy elevated by his own bootstraps as it were, he beeomes assistant distriet attoruey and is pro'mptly dis, 1 sted with the system which whitewashes political favourites. The Springboks v. Taranaki also screens.
