Australian League Team ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, This Day. The A-ustralian Eugby League team arrived by the Awatea at midday. The team will play the flrst of its three matches in Auckland next Saturday. Numbering 28 players, the team is regarded as one of the best' that has left Australia. It has a leaven of youug players. Mr B. Savage, the business manager. said that in addition to 30 matches in England ten matches would be played in France and that the managers would report to the Australian Board of Control on the standard of French play with a view to France being invited to send a team to tour Australia and New Zealand. Mr H. gunderland, the team manager, safld fhat years ago League football had been only a dream in -France, where now they had 200 te&ms, including 150 amateur teams. Eegarding League football in Victoria, he said that it was not intended to push it there until Rugby interests had been cultivated. The players while on tour will receive £4 a week and a bonus at the end of the' tour. The players, while on the way to Auckland, held a meeting and decided to invite Tottey, who originally was selected but was unable to pass the medical examination, to join the team. following by a later boat, the team members ahd managers having agreed to. pay the cost of his trip.
