OBSEQUIES
MR. CHARLES E. TWIST In the presence of a very large attendance of followers of the turl and other sporting interests the remains of the late Mr Charles E. Twist, of Greenmeadows, were laid to rest on Saturday afternoon at Park Island. The esteem in which he was" held throughout Hawke's Bay and many other parts of New Zealand was evidenced by the many messages of syinpathy received by his bereaved widow and daughter. The pall-bearers were: Messrs T. W. Twist, E. Twist, J. Twist, H. Twist, > all brothers of the deceased, A. S. Dupnage and F, S. Easton. The burial rites of the Presbyterian Church were conducted by the Rev. J. W. Cumming, of Taradale, who paid tribute to the tine sporting qualities of the late Mr Twist, who was a lover of clean sport. Among those who sent wreaths weie the following: — H.B. Jockey Club, H.B. District Racing Committee, Napier Park Racing Club, Waipukurau Jockey Club, Poverty 13ay Hunt Club, Hawke's Bay Hunt Club, Poverty Bay 'ruri Club, Dannevirke Hunt Olub, H.B. branch of the Owners', Trainers' and Breeders' Association, H.B. A. and P. Society, Napier Club, staff on the showgrounds/ Thomas if . } .wick and Sons, Ltd., Messrs Retemeyer and Edgley, Taradale Presbyterian Church, Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., and the Taradale Women's Institute.
