6 Minister's Reply to Requesti for Increase
(By relegrapji-
DANNEVIRKE, This Day. "In regard . to the suggestion of a iurtlxeir payment on the past season's cheese/' says the Hon W. Lee Martin in a letter to the seeretary of the local dairy company which mad© representa- - tions to th© Minister, "I can only say that very full representations have. been made to the Government to the effeet that a further payment be made to bring the average butterfat payment made by cheese-manufacturing companies up .to such a figure as will represent a premium of l|d per lb. butterfat above the average butterfat price paid out by buttet-manufacturing companies, and that full and careful consideration will be given to this matter by Cabinet. "It is, of course, tob soon yet to say what margin above the butter payout the averag© cheese company will show. Th© Government appreciates the difficulty of cheese-mr, ifacturing. companies, particularly small companies, and has already agreed that the price differential for next season Bhall be 2d per lb. butterfat. It is considered that an increase of a half-penny pert lb butterfat in tlie margin will awist the position materially."
