VALEDICTORY
MR. HAROLD OLIVER Mr Haiold Oliveq, who has be.en connected with the Labour Party iri Napier for some considerable time, and who has been transferred to Wolling-. ton, was farewelled by members of the party at a soeial evening held in the Community Hall, Napier, and presented with a fduntain pen as a mark of the esteem in which he is held. On behalf of the Labour Party and Labour Representation Committee, tne Hon. W^_E. Barnard, M.P., dn making the presentation to Mr Oliver, referred in warm terms to Mr Oliver 's long connection. with the Labour movemeut and hiis consistbnt and loyal service as a member of it. All were 'indeed soriy that he was severing his connection with Napier, and his many friiends wished him godspeed in his new home. Mr D. B. McRae, president of the Napier Labour Representation Committee, cordially seconded Mr Barnard 's remarks and stated that in Mr Oliver all had possessed a true friend and a good comrade. He was a man whom the party in Napier could ill afford to lose. Mr Oliver, in returning thanks, expressed his deep regret in having to leave Napier and his appreciation of his long and unabated friendship with members of the branch,
