sir charles saunders TORONTO, July 26. The death has occurred, of Si* Charles Saundere, developer of the Marquis variety of wheat. — ' — — , Sir Charles Edward Saunders was born in Loxxdon, Canada, in 1S67. He was for twenty years in the employ of the Canadian Government (experimental farms branch), testing cereals and produeing new varieties, especially of wheat, several of which— the Marquis, Euby, Eeward, and Garnet — have become f amous. He was an honorary LL.D. of the University of Western Oatario, and was knighted in 1934.
