Mr G. N. Pharazyn, of Waewaepa, Station, Dannevirke, sails this week by the Rangitikei on a flyingi visit to London. He expects to return in time for the shearing eeason. f Mr J- 8 Butler, of Messrs McCulloch, Butler and Spence's office, Hastixigs, visited Gisborne yesterday to address a gathering of members of the Poverty Bay branch of the New Moaland Society of Accouptantg. Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., left Hastnigs by the mail train this mor»iing for Wellington to attend a brief carncus of the Labour Party and also to welcome the Prime Minister. the Rt. Hon. M. J. Burgexj, M.Sc., formerly of Wanganui Technical College and Otago University, has accepted an appointment as chemist with the BritishAustralian Lqad Mawifa-eturies at the Cabarita laboratories of the conxpany, near Sydney. Mr Geoffrey Muir, Auckland, and fovmerly of Gisborne, who was aitached to the New Zealand trade delegation xn the capacity of Press liaisoq o'fficer during the visit of bhe Minister of Finance, the Hon. Walter Nnsh,. to tlie United Kingdom, will join the editorial staff of the Times, London, pn August 3 Mr lvan. Collett, who for the past seven years has been stationed in Has^ tings with the Atlantic Oil Company, has received notice qf his transfer on promotion to Auckland, for which place ho will leave at the end of the week. Mr Collett was for a number of yegrs a prominent Rugby player. He played for the Hastings club and also represented Hawke's Bay. He will carry the best of good w#hes for his success in the northern city. Mr. T. E. Easterfield, son of Professor Easterfield, Wellington, and Mr. E. A. Eankin divided the Owst Pri?:e as a result of awards announced recently at the University of Cambridge. Mr, Easterfield also was among the recipients of book prizes. He is a student at Clare College and - his name appears among those» who received the B-A. degree by proxy.- Mr. R. D. Sweet, who is taking medicine at Gonville and Caius, , is among scholarship holders and has been awarded a First-Year Exhibition. The degree of B.A. by proxy was awarded to Mr. J. C. Dear, St. John's College.
