It was hermetieally sealed between layers of stalagraite, whose accretions amount to only an mch in a thousaua jtars. An abnorma. feature w the bmoensely poweifu1 lower jaw, supported by a huge muscle dependent on a bony protuberance at the side of the face. The cranial formation indieates high intelligence. Skilfully-shaped flint weapons. implements, and flaking, which were found near the skeleton, indicate that the cave in which tlie bones were fou'nd was not ouJy the uiau's dwelliug, but also his workshpp.
