ENGLISH SOCCER TEAM
Australian Eleven Beaten MELBOUENE, July 24. The English soccer team defeated an Australian team at the Melbourne cricket ground by four goals to three. At half -time Australia led 2—0 but the Englishmen pulled the game out of tho fire by clever ball control and machinelike precision in .passing, movements. Spectacular saving by Australia 'fl keeper, Sheppard, was a feature of tho match. The scorers were: England, Thornton (2), Eastham and Mathews; p Au-stralia, Anderson, Smith and Hughes.
