Clear-cut iu the frosty eir against a baekground of blue, the Ruahines with their coatiug of snow presented a very fine spectacle from Waipawa early qu Shturday morning. The "frost whs 6n0 of the heaviest recorded iu tbo district this winter. Lantern Lecture, Mr E. J. Salisbury, a missiouary ou f'udough from Luanza, Belgium Cohgo, Africa, dolivered a lantern lecture at the Go:.spel Hall, Wairoa, on Friday night to a large aijdience. Mr Salisbury has beou jn Luaima for 7J yeaM and with Mrs Salisbury 'has charge of the Dan Crawford Membrial Hospital. The slides shown depicted mission, medicul and educational work. The speaker aa'id .that the country is baiag developed by European jnterests. who are tapping the vast supplies of aebestos, coppor, gold and diamonds. hlr Salisbury briefiy tracod tho work of the pioneer missionaries, David Livingston and Dan Crawford in particular. Mr Salisbury was accoi'ded a boarty vote of- thanks for the very iuterestinjr address.
