The Kahuranaki Lodgo irill hold n 500 card tournament in the Buffalo Hall, Warren street, Hastings, on Tuesday, July 28, at 8 p.m. The Hastings Free Kindergarten will hold a jumble sale next Saturday in No. 4 sample room, next Eastbourne street, kindly lent by Mr H. W. C. Baird. Owing to counter-attractlon* the Havelock North Amateur Athletic Club will hold its monthly dance on Tuesday August 3 instead-of Wednesday, July 28. The next of the popular week-end rail excursions to Hawke 'e Bay has been arranged for the July 30- August 1 week-end. The excursion train leaves Wellington la,te on Friday nxght and arrives at its" destination early on the Saturday. Fares have been drastically reduced. The attention of readers is drawn to the sale of new furnishingg to be held by Harvey. Fulton and Hill in the commodious building at the rear of the Kaum-On-In motor garage, Karamu road north, Hastings. The sale is on Wednesday, the 28th inst., and owing to the very large olfering at will commence punctually at one o'clock, * the auction starting with the xugs, mats and carpets. The consignment is open for inspection all day Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Au exhdbition of water-colours, etehings and woodcuts by Mr John L..Moore is at present showing in the Napier Art Gallery and will remain open to the public until August 4. The exhibitioii covers a wide range of subjects and has drawn considerable praise for the artist's execution of his studies from those fvho have been privileged to inspect the showing. A loan cxhibition of old and modern needlework and textiles is also on view 4at the gallery. All those interested in art will be welcomed to the exhibition, which is open from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
