WEATHER AIDS N.Z.

(Jnited Prea» Aasociation

Innings and 2 Runs Victory * Oyer Scotland GALLICHAN IN FQRM (From the Special Correspondent of the

with the Team.)

(lleceived 23, 1.0 p.m.) DUNFERMLINE, July 22. New Zealand, favoured by the weather, won the so-called "second test" against Scotland. Weather com ditions alternated between rain and sun and made the wicket difficult. After Page had been dismissed quickly, Donnelly batted brilliantly. the eighth-wieket partnership adding 60 at a great pace. Wben Ndw Zealand declared four hours remained for piay and Scotland collapsed. Donnelly made good use of the wicket, keeping a good Iength and spinning the ball weli. Gibb batted brigbtly in Scotland' s second innings but little opposition was fortbcoming from the other batsmen. Gallichan, who was unable to strike his length in the first innings, bowled with excellent control in the second innings, having the best analysis of the tour. ^ An encouraging feature of the match was the fact that Roberts bowled both innings without discomfort. It is now probable that he will be able to play in the Test. The jNew Zealandors will stay tonight at Dunfermline and travel to Manchester to-morrow. Soores : — NEW ZEALAND. First Innings.
