DISTRICT HIGHWAYS

No. 5 Council Meets A meeting was held on Wednesday evening of the No. 5 District Highways Council in Napier, when consideration was given to various highway works programmes in tho district. The main business of the meeting dealt with the elimination of overhead crossings, but a large number of applications for the classrfication of roads as main highways were also considered. Mr A. Dinnie, the Main Highways Board representative presided over Messrs "W. Tucker (Hawke 's Bay County Council), R. G. Glenny (Waipawa County Council),. A. C. Eussell (Waipukurau County .Council), B. H. White (Patangata County Council), J. Peters (Dannevirko County Council), and M. O. Grainger (Woodville County Council). Messi's A. G. Nolan (Wairoa), and A. G. Hales (Weber) were unable to bo present. Also presont were Mr J. A. Wilkinson as secretary, and Mr G. Murray, roads engineer.
