The development of vas't oil fields and the erection of a huge refinery oii the island by the Bahrein Petroleum Company, Limited, a British Company, is of vast importance to the British Empire. Bahrein is now a base for the British Navy and it is likely , to become one of the chief Seadroines of the East. It enjoys the protection of the British Government and is the only oil field that can be absolutely secured by the British Navy. The Under-Seeretary for India has stated that the British Government has undertaken to supply armed forces to protect tho territory.
