N.Z. Match with Scotland Starts After Lunch WICKET AIDS BOWLERS

(From Special Correspondent of the

witb the Team.)

(Received 22, 11.0 a.m.) DUNFERMLINE, July 21. The commencement of the match between New Zealand and Scotland wAs dela.yed nntil after lunch owing fco rain. The wicket had been covered but it was soft and the outfield was •Tery slow. Hadlea was aggressive, off-driving ' and hooking in fine style. Roberts batted steadily, his shoulder standing the strain well. After. tea & drying wicket favoured the left-hander Melville, while Farquhar, the fast-medium bowler was also effective. Five wickets were down for 119 and Scotland- were bowling and fielding well but Weir and Page added 60 at a difficult time. New Zealand' s acore would have been much larger if Jhe wet outfield had not reduced to twos many strokes which ordinarily would have been fours. . An early start is planned for tonaorrow to compensate for the time lost to-day. Ghilly weather reduced the attendance, which was approximately 1000. The team is being most hospitably entertained in Scotland. Invitations *re so numerous that laany have had 4© be deelined including a dinner with Carnegie Trust pfficials. Scores * — JSEW ZEALAND.
