Review of Activities

WELLINGTON, Last Night. Statistics of building activities under the Government's housing seheme were announeed by the Parliamentary Under, -Secretary in eharge of housing, Mr J. A. Lee, to-night. He said 1100 men were now engaged on the construction of State dwellings and it was very probable a similar number were indirectly engaged. Land for houses had been acquired in 38 different eentres and negotiations were proceedings in a large number if other places. In 24 towns tenders had been called, these covering 1^69 houses. Contraets had been let for 727 houses, while nearly 300 houses were at present in course of eroetion and 50 alinost rcady i tor occuf&tion.
