Mr. A. Tronson, of Auckland, and formerly of Napier, has been appointed juage of the Avondale Jockey Club. Mr. G. Gould, chairman of directors of tne New Zealand Shipping Company, arrived in Wellington from Sydney by the Wanganella. Mrs. B. U. Richard, of Charlotte Creseent, Hastings, has returned home after spending several months in Australia. \ 1 Mr. J. D. Bolana, of Napier, was yesterday appointed secretary of the Hawne's Bay War Relief Association. Thxs position had been held by the late Mr. H. J. Russell since the inception of that body in 1916 uutil his death. Mr. E. J. Howard, Chairman of Committees in the House of Representa.tives, and Mr. F. W. Schramm, M.P. for Auckland East, who were two of New Zealand 's representatives at the conference of the Empire Parliamentary Association in London, le'ft England on their return to New Zealand by the Otranto on July 17. Professor H. R. Hamley, p'rofessor of education in the In'stitute of Education, University of Loddon, will arrlve at Wellington by the Rangitata from England next Wednesday, accompanled by Mrs. Hamley and their sea and daughter, Professor Hamley is a Victorian by birth, and was formerly principal of the Secondary Training College, Bombay, and lecturer in mathematics at Teachers' College, Columbia University.
