SOUND MARKET FOR STORE SHEEP
Breeding Ewes Predominate In Short Yarding HOGGETS SELL WELL A sound market prevailed for store sheep .at Stortford Lodge to-day, when there was only a short yarding^ whieh consisted largely of breeding ewes. Many of these were in ratlier low condition, the aged sorts being poorly mouthed. Values were on a par with the advanced levels made last week. Hoggets agiain sold well ; the best woolly wethers made 22. '3, and a wellgrown line of wethers shorn as lambs were passed at 21/3. Ewe ^hoggets, very emall grown but hardy, were dear enough at the values made. Rivalry between two buyers accouhted for a line of empty young ewes in good order, making the splendid value of 19/8. Selected lines made the following values On account of Rukumoana Station, woolly R-omney ewe ' hoggets, small grown but in hardy condition and should come a-way well on iow-lovel country, sold at 21/10. On account of Mr. D. Maclean, "Glencoe" Station, 113 four, six and eight-tooth ewes depastured with Eomney rams since Mareh 2, brought 27/-. These ewes were mixed in the wool and were in medium condition. On account of Mr. Alex. Livingstone, Mangatahu, 78 small-grown, woolly Eomney ewe hoggets in healthy order brought 23/-. Down from "Glencoe," a line of sixyear ewes, depastured -with "Eomney rams, fair mouthed, roomy and carryuig a good slipe, were slow to. sell at 13/9. On account of the same vendor, an entry of guaranteed five-year ewes,_ de- * pastured with Eomney arms since hlarch 2 and in medxum oxder, sold at ^179 Down from Te Onepu, a line of sixyear ewes, medium^ framed, poorly mouthed, depastured , with Southdown rams and in quite fair order, sold at 18/6. On account of Mr A. J. Tawse, V7aimarama, 127 fivo and eix-year ewes, fair mopthed, depastured with South-. down rams and in good condition and well woolled, sold at 24/10. An entry of 50 fairly-grown extrawell woolled Eomney wether hoggets, in very f prward order and containing a pereentage xeady to hang up, xealised 22/5. On account of Mr "W. F. Fleming, Poukawa, 119 aged ewes depastured with Southdown rams, just on the drop, poor mouthed bnt roomy, sold at 22/-. On account of Mr James Lyons, an entry of empty four, six and eighttooth ewes, in forward store condition and- carrying a good slipe, xealised the splendid figure of 19/8.
