Britain Will Not Tolerate Strife

(Reeeived 21, 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, July 20. Ihe House of Commons debate tomorrow on the motiou approying the (iovernment's adoption of the recommendafeions of the Royal Couimission oi Paiestine was preeeded by the House of Lords debate. Ihe Opposition leader, Lord Snell, said that he stili believed the mandate to be workable and that be considered the proposals for partition undesirable. "1 regarded what is. in effect, the returi. of the niandate to the League as a uational lxuiniliation. " The Marquess of Dufferm, replying for the Goveruineut, said that, hAving decided to accept the report, the Govemment would uot tolerate actiou on either side in Paiestine, which was again m the flame of the fires of controversy. 'Ihe Government was not prepared to entertain any large or substautial variation in the schente of partition unless the Jewe and Arabs in a joint agreeraeut puft. t'orward alteruatives commeadiug themselves to the Government.
