WORK FOR 25 MEN
Levelling Job at Havelock North. The first of the local bodies in this district to put in hand work to absorb men on sustenance is the Havelock North Town Board, which has found work for 25 men for eight weeks. The board purchased a section of an acre and three-quarters adjoiuing the present cemetery, and the men are being employed to level this area with a view to providing an extension for the cemetery. The Labour Department and the Employment Board granted a subsidy on the work of levelling, and it is expected that tlie 25 men will be engaged for about eigbt weeks at the rate of £4 10/- a week. The job will cost approximately £1000 and wi'l] give the Village a good asset.
