EXHIBITION OF ARTICLES MADE IN ENGLAND BY WAR-DISABLED CRAFTSMEN
An exhibition and sale of artieles made in England by British and wardisabled crat'tsmen, was opened yesterday afternoon in St. John's Hall, Napier, by Mrs T. H. Lowry, O.B.E., as president of the New Zealand lied Cross Society. Mr H. W. Guy, of England, who was in cliarge of the exhibition, was lntroduced by the Mayor, Mr C. O. Morse. Mr Guy stated that the [iroblem of disabled men had not ceased to exist, as there were 465,000 disabled men in England and Wales alone, plus 8000 permanent hospital cases. Sasnia (the Disabled Sailors' and Soldiers' Mutual Association). which is tho textile organisation Mr Guy represehts, is under the patronage oi H.R.H. the Princess Royal. One exhibit is a beautiful gold bedspread, hand-painted in an old Engilish design, and which is a replica of one made by this organisation for Queen Elizabeth when Duchess of York, as a wedding gift for the Duchess of Gloucester. Silk evening scarves, dressing gowns, bedspreads, aresses, table cloths, aud mats are only a few of the many arricles showing, and are of excelleut workmanship.
