Elderly Invalid's Death from Burns

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Through her clothing catching alight vvheu she was sitting before the fire' on. Sunday evening an elderly woman, Mrs. 'Mary Baxter Jones, aged 83, reslding at Drummond, suffered severe burns, and death from shock oceurred a few. hours later. , At the inquest to-day David Jones, son of deceased> said his mother had been an invalid for some years and resided with 'him. At 5.30 on Sunday evening she had been sitting in front of the fire in her room, and her sudden cries attracted attention. It was f ound that her clothing had caught alight, and she suffered. burns about the body before the blazing clothing could be removed.
