HIGHLAND PIPE BAND
Scots Society's Efforts to Raise Funds The Hastings and District Scots Society has for some time been endeavouring to supply tbeir Highland pipe band with new uniforms, and to date the eum of £200 has bcon raised through various chaimels. However, much more is ueeded before a complete set of uniforms can be obtained, and with that end in view an old-time and Scottish ball is to be held in the Hastings Assembly Hall on July 22, when an enjoyable "timo is assurcd all those who' attend. Apart from the playing members, the baad has about a dozen learners who are very keen, and the society feels confident of having a lirst-class band in the near future. Donations to the fund may be forwarded to Mr J. W. Shaw, secretary, Queen street, Hastings, or to Mr W. A. Williamson, stationer, Russell street. Manchester Unity Odd Fellows and candidates ior initiation are advised tbat tho Hastings Lodge will hold its regular uieeting m the Odd Fellows' Hall; . Market street, to-morrow, commencing at seven o'clock. After the njeeting . the. Clive Lodge will be entertained and the competition matches against the Hastings Fores- , ters will take pkqe.
