A GOLF SURPRISE

Hastings Champion Beaten The defeat of T. Garrod, 1936 champion of the Hastings Golf Olub, at the hands of E. A. Murley, occasioned somewhat of a surprise during the week-end when the first round of the 1937 championship was played. The score was two and one in Murley's favour, the winner returning, with a card of 76 and the loser with 80. Garrod plays. off a handicap of oue and Murley off four. It is rather remarkable that Murley has met Garrod three or four times in the eliminating rounds for the club cham>pionship and each time Murley has been the winner. Murley has latply been playing particularly good golf. -
