America v. Germany LCND'ON, July 17. In the inter-zone fin'al for the Davis Cup between* America and Germany von Cramm (Germany) beat Grant (Ameriea) 6 — 3, 6—2, 6—4; Budge (America) beat Henkel (Germany) 6 — 2, 6 — 1, 6 — 3. Von Cramm and Grant made a dour begxnning, each testing out the other. The German was more aggressive and increased his severity in the second set. His only uncertainty was his backhand. The German 's rclentlessness increased liis mastery and hc outwittcd the Amorican to sweop to victory. Budge and Henkel opened with a lojig-rango tlucl. Budge was definitc master of strokes, whereas foolfaulting unsteadied the German. Budge 's stroke supremacy was always manifesl exeept against I-Ipnkcl's lightning accs. Henkel 's best patch was the third set, but he iacked consisteney in length. His smasliing was an Mtkfefcl H Budge 's '•Mitalislng iobs.
