Good Exhibition Promised — — / tfurpassing in interest recent boxing bouts staged in Hawke's Bay, the return flxture between BUIy Martin, of Australia, and Jack McMakon, of Palmerston North, to be decided at the Municipal Theatre, Hastings, to-night is confidently expected to draw a pac.ked house. Among the first flight of weltcrweights in Australian and New Zealand, the principal. in the star contest will return patrons good value for thelr money. Their styles are vastly different, but blend to a nicoty and thore is never a dull moment. McMahon is of the tear-iu, non-stop fighter variety willi'a wonderful capacity for absorbing punislxment. On the other hand, Martin is a very strong defensive boxer who can mix it with the best when he finds the going that way. Commenting upon their recent muchdisputed contest, the Gisborne Times •mys: "McMahon made manv friends ly his relentless, wade-in lactics and his ability to absorb punishmeiit. He Bhowed a verv clever smother, using liis arms and elbows to good effect. He also. did good body punching in the clinches. Martin showed ability to punch well, notably with his left, some of his rips to McMahon 's body and head causing the New Zealand boy's supporters some anxious momcnts. Martin is a clean attractive tjrpe of boxer who will always be popular with local fans.
