Effective Decorative Scheme In The Foresters' Hall
Beautiful decoratione in sliades of o orangje, gold and greenj ihe Foresterg' Hall, Napier, presented a very gay §cene last evening when members of the Napier Golf Club held their annual ball. Bamboo and palnis with large gold and orange paper puppies were arrauged on each side of the entrance and down each side of the hall, while hanging on the walls were large paintings of typ'iqal giolfing scenes, suspended over the orchestral dias were plaques of orange and gold alternatively, and printed on these in lai-ge black letters were the words "Napier Golf Club." From the dias Les Henry's Qrchestra played a splendid prograinme of dance music. All the windows were covered with streamerB of orange and greent and suspended froxn the ceiling were large clustere of balioons in the samq colours. Down the centre of the ceiling were three large iig^its effectively shaded in orange over gold The orchestra stage was bordered with ipasses of asparagus fern intermingled with orange and goid paper poppiea, tall and graceful palms being arrang^d at each end. The room at the back of the stage wa? arranged as a lounge with chair? and sffiall tables and a carpeted lounge was also arranged in one corner of the hall. Upstaira, in the supper-room, tall vase? of gofden wattle were to be seen ornaxnenting the walls and bowls of orange and gold Iceland poppies. artisticaliy arranged with maiden-hair fern decorated the long tables on whicb were many terapting delicacies Mrs. F.. Theywere:— Miss Patricia Cox, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. C. D, Cox, who wore a picture frock of wliite spotted net mounted on white aatin taffeta. The bouffanb skirt was trimmed with tiny posies of flowers and the high neekline was finished with a small Peter Pan collar. The eleeves were very full and puffed and long gloves were worn. She carried a posy of oflwerg in pastel shades. Miss Joan Somerset-Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Somerset-Smith, who wore a dainty frock of white chantille lace, the yoke being outlined with frills of stiffened net and. the high neokline in front formed a V shape at the baek. Frills of the stifened net trimmed the hemline and a belt of folded white satin gave a very pretty finish. Long gloves were worn and she carried a Jovely posy of flowers and wore a spray of the same flowers in her hair. ,Miss Ejpmilene Tombs, daughter oi xYJr. and Mrs. P. W. Tombs, cbose white needlerun lace cut flttingly to the kneeg, from there the skirt was cowposed of frills of white stiffened net. The round neekline and puff sleeves were trimmed with tiny frills of white net and a pretty ivory buekie finished the stitched belt of lace. Long , white gloves were worn and she carried a dainty posy of flowers and a matching posy was worn in her hair. Among those present were; .Mrs A. T, Spain, trained frock of black mirror velvet and a black coat with a collar of white ermine. . Mrs R. W. Dalgleish, black chiffon patterned with clustered flowers, and a coatee of mirror velvet with spray of pink carnations. Mrs J. L. Masterson, trained gown

Douglas chose midhight blue embossed marocain frook with large taffeta flowers forming a oorsage spray. Mrs G. Thorne-George wore black satin royale with a tunic of gold lame. Mrs G. Kelly, trained frock of black chiffon with a eape of white chantilly lace. Mrs Selwyn Averill wore a fitting frock of white French crepe with halter neekline and corsege spray of scarlet flowers. Mrs F. N. Harvey, nayy blue shot taffeta gown with a gold flligree brooch flnishlng the front qf the corsage. Mrs H, Rathbpne's frock was of JK.enya red windawept satin with coisage spray of gold flowers. Mrs Dudley JKettle, trajned gown of maripa blue satin, the corsage of needlerun lage studded witli multicoloured brilliants. Mrg J. Chambers, apple green cbantiliy lace with a frill of georgette trinjming the neekline and low baok. Mrs A. Clark, deep saxe. blue georgette over taffeta with jewelled clasps on the shoulders. Mrs Eric Nelson chose a gown of rust-brown georgette over which was worn a lovely cape of brown fur. Mrs Eric Williams, Marlborough blue taffeta gown with. very full skirt and ptlffer sleeves. Mrg R. Whyte chose a model gown of mqire taffeta. Mrs T. H, Lowry, trained frock of burguudy oloque satin. Mrs J. N. Lowry, amethyst Frenoh crepe with a corsage spray of cefise flowers. Mrs H. E. Troutbeck, stiffened net in blue and brown ohecks over brpwn taffeta, with a spray of natural flowers, Mrs Dudley Newbigin, mist hlue Firench crepe igown with a corsage spray of natural flowers. Mrs W. D. FitzGerald, lavender ohiffon, the corsage ha.ving a square neekline and a silver filigree belt studded with multi-coloured jewele at the waist. Mrs S. Sccuiar, black silk net needlerun with blue and red metalled thread. Mrs Ru T. Sutton, a trained frock of florai satin taffeta' with flared peplum and short puff sleeves. Mrs W.- G. Woods -model frock of peach ripple satin -with- shired corsage and natural shoulder- spray. Mrs T. Gilray's gown was of blue and silver lame the corsage being beautifully trimmed with satin diapaanta. Mrg H, Twhigg, chose black taffeta coin spotted ^ in gold' with frills of self material trimmijlg the . corsage. Mrs. E. J. Phillips/ golden brown lame with a corsage spray of golden flowers Mrs. H. Benjamin. oyoiamen satin made on simple lines with a cowied neekline. Mrs. H. Sproule, parchment lace witb a square neekline in front and the low back was finished witb a spray of pink flowers. Mrs. A, H. Mayne, tunic frook of bloagom pink satin with a quilted collar of self material and a corsage spray of material oflwers. Mrs. G. B. Amyes, parma violet ring velvet witb a balter neekline and spray of dusky pink flowers. Mrs. R. Worker, peach pink satin royale, back panel of tbe skirt being sbirred from waist to bemline. Mrs. K. Boswell's frock was of black lacquered satin cloehe patterned in green and gold, Mrs. W. Mawson, florai taffeta witb a quilted hemline and quilted sleeveless coatee. Mrs. L. Deighton's frock was of black satin royale witb a smart coatee of gold lame. Mrs, C. D. Coxt black Frepch crepe tb.e very wide sleeves of whicb were beautifully embroidered witb red flowers. Mrs. P. VV. Tombs, Marlborough blue mirror velvet with a corsage spray of natural flowers. ' Mrs. Ian MicKinnon, dusky pihk cloque with mauve shoulder spray and coatee of purple ring velvet. Humphries, voyql blue georgette with velvet flowers at the corsage tui ti smart embroidered coatee. Mrs Dunean Holdon, flame chiffon, ihe waist of which was prettily trimmed with frills. Mrs J. Hunter, white matelasse froek embossed in gold with coatee of the same material. Mrs D. l'rvine (Waipukurau) . black French crepe, the coatee of which was appliqued with red, green and lemon flowers. Mrs J. Wills, black silk net over taffeta with very full puff sleeves and small pointed collar. (Jornford, Holyrood green moire taffeta, the high neekline being trimmed With a tiny frill- of seif material. Mris Rarbara Bradley wore a trained frpck of honey-gold georgetth.
