CITRUS FRUIT BAN
Norfolk Island And Mediterranean Fly '~t (Eeceived 10, 10.30 a.m.) . • CANBEREA, July 16.The recent proelamation prohibiting the export of citrus fruit to Norfolk Island has ■ placed the Commonwealth Government in a difficult position. The COmmonwealth has always contradicted the contention of the New Zeaiand Government that the ban on Australian oranges -is necessary to eliminate the danger of the introduction of the Mediterranean fruit' fly, but the proelamation stated that the ob ject of the ban on the export of citrUs fruits to Norfolk Island was to prevent the introduction of the fly there. It is likely that the proelamation will be amended.
