Congratulations Expressed By ^Waipukurau Board

WAIPUKURAU, Last 'JNignt. The list of passes in the State examination for pupil nursee, held iast June, includes Nurses F. Miller and M. Ofiicer, on the staff of the district hosyiial, Waipukuxau. Their success was tlie subject ot' remarks by Mr. W. ll. Rathbone, chairman of the Waipawa Hospital Board, at the monthly meeting of the board. After mentioning that both candidates had passed the examination, Mr. Rathbone said that the hospital percentage of passes over the last five years would compare more than favourably with other hospitals in the Dominion. Dr. W. B. Fisher said that about onethird of the candadates failed in most hospitals. The chairman commented that the hospital had scarcely had a failure for the past seven yeara. The 100 per cent. of passes showed the value of the tutoring by the medical oflicers, matron and si'sters of the hospital. He. hoped they could carry on as successfully in future.' "The success of the training at this hoepitai is a' ' matter that should be known to the outside public," confcinued Mr. Rathbone. "Nurses come here and after three to three and a-hnlf years ' training sit for the examination. The fact that the passes have been practically 100 per cent. over a long period reflects very great credit on the teaching staff, and I would liko to move that they be written to and congratulated on the results, and that the nurses also be cougratulated. " Mr. N. G. Hawthorn seconded with m-jch pleasure. Dr. Fisher remarked that Sister M. ' E. Wagner had returned to the ftaif after achic-vang success in her maternity course, and it was decided to conyratulate lier also, tho motion being carried.
