Labour Member's Claim

TE AROHA, Last Night. "You give the Labour Party ten years with a guaranteed price and you wont's have a, mortgage on your land," said Mr. J. G, Barclay, M.P. for Marsden, addressing a meeting at Te Aroha, Mr. Barclay claimed that the. Government's marketing system had been a great success. "Although there is still a quantity of last season's. butter to eell, and if is consequently hard to foresee the final result, there will almost certainly be a small deficit," he added. "Mr, Nash has redueed the London commission from 2$ to 2 per cent. This will mean a saving of over £100,000 to the try."Maintaining that the present guaranteed price was satisfactory to the farmer, Mr. Barclay quoted a number. of factories whose pay-outs to date had averaged from 13$d. to over 14d. Mr. R. Coulter, M.P., also addressed the meeting.
