Should Ladies Be Permitted To Play?

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. A proposal by Mr. H. A. Martin that ladies be permitted to use the small green at tlie Waipukurau Bowling Club's green was discussecl at the annual meeting of thc club last night. Mr. Martin said that other clubs did so, and he thought that the Waipukurau club should. At prcscnt the green was not in use, and by permitting tho ladies to use it, the club would be assisted financially. "Tkeie are several ladies who would be williug to play/' he said. Alr. E. J. Turner also spoke in support of the proposal. Mr Phillips said that the schemo would involve cons.derable expense at the start, as conveniences would have lo be s'.'pplied. Mr. Martin suggested that a special geueral meeting be ca'lecl at which be would put forward the following ino tion; "That the ladies be permitted lo use the small green for a subscription of £1, the ininiinuin uumber of' players to be 10." The matter was loft to tho members to decide whether a special general meeting should be cnlled.
