ORMONDVILLE, This Day. Mrs Ingeborg Herbert, wlio came to New Zealand on the "Hooding" iil 1872, celebrated her S8tlx birthday yesterday. Mrs Herbert reeeived manj gifts and congratulatdry njessages from her neighbours, friends and relations, and was fortunate in having a bright warm day on which to enjoy them. These included a carefully-worked handkerchief from the children attending the school, which was carried to Mrs Herbert early in the morning by three little girls. It must be well over 60 years since Mrs Herbert first came to- live in Ormondville, and she has shared in the lives of the people more than rnost. of the pioneers, for in her young and vigorous days she was a tdwer of strength to tliose who were sick, and her wisdoffi and experience presided over the advent of numbers of babies into the world. Now, in the evening of her days, she loves to talk of old tinies, not only in New Zealand, but also in the land of her birth. She is greatly respect&d and loved by all who ;4ms hm,
