Mr. and Mrs. G. Horton Smith, who have been staying with the latter'f patents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Craig, Takapau, have returned to Wellington. Miss L. Haw, of Te Ivuiti, who lias been staying with Mr. and Mrs. G. Ferguson, Waipukurau, returned koine yesterday. The managing-seeretary of the Waipawa Hospital Board, Mr P. B. Bmyrk, was given authority by the board to attend the group conference of isecrstaries to be held at Palmerston North to-night. Members of the Waipukurau branch of the Returned Soldiers ' Association 'met Mr W. G. Cook, who is leaving Waipukurau, and presented him with a small gift as a token of the esteem in which he is held Mr and Mrs W. G. Cook and Miss Mavis Cook left Waipukurau yesterday j for 'W ellington, where they will in future reside. Mr Cook is a very old resident of this town, having lived there since • boyhood. He has always taken a keen lnterest in local aHairs and was for some years chairman of the District High School Committee. Both Mr and Mrs Cook will be greatly missed from Waipukurau, by a large circla of friends. The death is reported from Seddon (Marlborough) of Mr Ern Limbrick. The late Mr Limbrick was very well known in Central Hawke's Bay, having been for several years mine host of the Tavistock Hotel, Waipukurau. The sympathy of a very large number of friends will be extended to the widow and family — Mrs J. King, Christchurch; Mrs G. Gay, Blenheim; Miss Peggy Limbrick, Seddon; and "Mick" Limbr.ickA also of Seddon.
