TAKAPAU, Last Night. An enjoyable • and well-orgauised dance in aid of the candidature of the Takapau queen, Miss Lorna Edgecombe, was held in the Public Hall on Wednesday evening. Mr. A. MeCormick, president of the Central Hawke's Bay Rugby SubUnion, outlined the objects for which the carnival was being held, and thanked the local patrons for the support that was being aecorded. Mr. A. O. Leivre was an effiicent M.C. The music, which was supplied by Mr. Te Tau's orchestra, was appreciated and added its quota to the enjoyment oi the evening. Durlng an interval in dancing a bouquet was presented to Miss Lorna Edgecombe, Mrs. A. McConnick making the presentation. The supper arrangements for the evening, which were under the control of Mrs. N. M. Paulsen, were good. A very effective decoration scheme for the ball-room and supper-room further enhaneed the pleasure of the evening. The dance was well attended and the proceeds will add considerably to the carnival fund.
