The match Gentlemen versus Players resulted: Gentlemen, first innings, 165 (Dunpster 25, Kimpton 59, Goddard tw.o for 10, Hammond • two for 34, Weliard four for 62, Smith two for 43). Players, lirst inninge, seven wickets tor 188 (Hammond 62). Dempster's classic 25 and the Australiau Kimpton 's hard-hitting . 59 were notable exceptions in the Gentlemen 's sorry show at Lords, being out after 175 minutes on a good wicket. Hammond is the first player to complete two thousands runs for the season.
