Completion of Napier-Wairoa Railway • ■ ... ^ BUILDINGS AND SIDINGS Although the trip by rail from Napier to Waifoa has now twice been mfde by the rail-car Arai-te-Uru, the Htiq is by no means complete, and requires some months of work before bejng handed over in its entirety to the Railway Dnpartment. On both the Napier-Puto-rino section, which. is almost ready to liand over, and the Putorinn-Wairoa section, which will not he ready until December, a number of smaller works kay© yet to be finished. The building of statiotts, sidings, fences, cattle-stops and station yards at several stopping-places along the route will occupy some timo, so that, when the railway department finally asanmee control from the Public Works Department, everything will be in order for a fully-equipped and serviced line. Tenders have been called for work of thie nature at Putorino, which will be followed by similar work at Mohaka and other stations north. From Mohaka "northward, work etill remains to be completed on tbe track itself, which will bave to be properly ballasted before a regular service ie installed. Proper sidings have yet to be constructed or completed at Wairoa, a turntable installed, and the station building renovated.
