FLYING IN NEW GUINEA
Young Dominion Pilot L1NK WITH HASTINGS A newly-appointed pilot on the staff of Guinea Airways, New Guinea, is Mr W. J. Robins, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. F. Robins, of Tauranga, and a~ grandson of Mr A. Brooke-Taylor, of Lumsden road, Hastings. Mr Robins has had a varied career iu aviation, and he was one of the participants in the Brisbane-Adelaide centenary air-face. He went to Australia in 1034, and obtained work as a boundary rider in New South Wales. A year later he " qualified as a pilot, ohtaiuing his commercial licence in March, 1936. Mr Robins took part in the Brishane* Adelaide centenary air-race last year and later served with the shark patrol round Sydney beaches. Mr Robins is a qualified radio operator and he won the speed contest of the Royal Aero Club of New South Wales last year. In his new position he is flying threeengined Junkers and Ford aircraft. He. is only,^4J years of age, and is the - youngest pilot employed by Guinea Airways.
