French Racecourse Wrecked (Received 15, 11.30 *.m.) MARSEILLES, July 14. The racecourse at Pont de Vivaux was wrecked by punters who were enraged at the judge's decision. The starting barrier rose faultily, enabling an outsider to romp home. When the name Was posted the crowd became infuriated, and fired hedges, slashed benches and demolished the tote, only sparing the concrete grandstand. It will be many weeks before the course can be used again. Several police and demonstrators were injured. Later: As the result of a procession and riots 20 demonstrators and 10 policemen were sent to hospitai. There were 30 arrests. It is alleged that the throwing of tear-gas bombs started the trouble.
