AUCKLAND, Last Night. A statement in favour of the eommer cial development of sardine fisheries was submitted by Mr. E. S. Petrie to the Sea Fisheries Investigation Committee, which held its eight-day sitting in Auckland. Evidenc§ was also given by representatives of Pearl Fisheries, Ltd. Eepresentatives of signatories to a petition recently presented to the Government praying for the prevention' of monopolistic cpntrol of tho fishing industry also gave evidence. Otlier mat ters covered in evidence were the provisioa of adequate local supplies, con trel of export by Government fixatioii . of retail and wholesale priecs and oasing of restrietions on boat building.
