Exchequer Returns Increase

RUGBY, July 13. The Exchequer returns continue to reflect the satisfactory state of tho uational flnances. The total ordinary revenue to date amounts to £159,037,272, compared with £149,272,026 for tho corresponding date last year. Advances are shown under all the main headings. The inland revenue yield, to which iucome tax contributcs £20,276,000 and estate duty £26,130,000, reached a total of £56,546,000 on July 10, compared with £51,095,000 in 1936. On the,same date £89,665,000, against £84,331,000 had been collected from customs and excise. The total ordinary expenditurd amounted to £239,849,779, compared with £226,268,212 on the corresponding date last year.
