Prices at Westfield SHEEP IN KEEN DEMAND

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Values for ox beef improved by 1/{ter lOOlbs at the Westfield market today, when much extra prinie quality was offered. In an average yarding, cow and heifer beef was quoted firm at late rates. Extra clioice ox beef sold »t 33/- per XOOlbs, choice and prime 29/- to 32/-, unfinished 25/- to 29/-, prime cow and heifer beef 24/- to 29/-, unfinished 17/- to 24/-, extra lieavy steers ranged from £13 10/- to £17, heavy £12 to £13 5/-, medium £11 to £12 5/-, light £9 to £11, unfinished £4 to £8 15/-, extra heavy cows and lieifers £8 7/6, to £10 12/6, heavy £6 LO/- to £8 17/6, medium £6 to £7 12/6, liglit £4 15/- to £6 7/6, unfinished £3 to £4 15/-. Sheep were in shorter supply, and there was a keen demand, in consequence of which there was a further improvement -in values. Lambs were firm, the quality in all sections being satisfactory. Extra hea-vy wethers 38/6 to 40/-, heavy 34/6 to 37/-, medium 32/6 to 34/-, light 30/- to 31/6, unfinished 25/- to 29/6, extra heavy ewes 31/6 to 34/6, heavy 29/- to 31/3, medium 25/6 to 29/-, light 20/-, to 24/6, unfinished 8/- to 20/-, prime lamb 20/to 31/-, unfinished 10/6 to 20/-. Good quality calves were offered in tuil yarding. The values for all elasses excepting bobby calves improved by about 1/- each. Runners realised from £2 10/- to £6 10/-, heavy vealers £4 5/to £5 10/-, medium £3 16/- to £4 2/-, light £3 5/- to £3 12/-, smaller £2 8/-, to £2 19/-, unfinished £1 10/-, to £2 6/-, babby and rough calves 6/- to 25/-. . The pig yarding was the smallest for some years, but the quality was first class. Prices for porkers and baconers again showed $n advance of about 1 /- a head. Choppers sold at from £2 to £4 3/-, heavy baconers £4 4/- to £4 16/-, medium £3 16/- to £4 2/-, light £3 4/- to £3 12/-, heavy porkers £2 14/- to £6 3/-, medium £2 8/- to £2 14/-, light £1 19/-, to £2 6/-, small and unfinished £1 5/- to £1 16/-, stores £1 to £1 7/-, slips 10/- to 20/-, weaners 7/- to 16/-. Baconers averaged 7d per lb and porkers 6jd to 6|d. i
