To nleasuro the smoothness of paper, two Wiscohsin inventors have produced a scientific apparatus whieh combines a prishi, an electric eye, and a miniature hydraulic press. Th© paper to be tosted is pressed against the back face of a prism whieh refleets light on to the photo-electric eell. The closer the contact made between prism and paper, or, in other words, the smoother the paper, the lower is the intensity of the light reflected. The photo-electric cell turns this light into currents Which can be recorded, thus giving an ex^pt measure of the relative smoothness pf different _ s: mples of ja|jer. ,
We learn from many folk thst wa have achieved that little extra eomething that means such a whale of a iot to people who are tinicky about , what thej eat. The Troadero.*
