Heat-Wave Deaths The heat wave continuea onabated. The deaths numhering 330 are ascribed diTeetly to the heat. The temperatures rose to 106 degrees in the Middle West. —New York. Italy Short of Wheat The Department of Commerce reports that Italy may be compelled to import 700,000 to 800,000 tons of wheat to meet her domestie requirements in 1937. It is estimated that an additional 3,000,000 tons will he required for Ethiopia. — Washington. Horse Destroyed Mr. J. T. Jamieson's gelding TTpoko Ariki, who broke down seriously at 1 lemiiigton laat Wednesdav, has been destroyed. — Sydney. Sydney "Quads" Quadrupletf-— three boys and a girl— were born at the women 's hospital at Carlton yesterday, but only one boy survived. — Sydney. Australian Golfers A strong party of Australian amateur golfers is likely to visit New Zealand in September to compete in the Dominion championships. For the present the prohable tounng play'ers wish to remain unknown but two of them have won Australian and State titles and two others have represented their State in Kirk-Windeyer matches. It will not be an offieial visit but will be in the natnre of a holiday. — Sydney.
