HOCKEY

Napier Saturday Association The fortnightly meeting of the Napier Hockey Sub-association was held on Monday night. Mr. C. Cross (chairman) presided over a full attendance of delegates. Correspondence from clubs relating to routine matters was received and dealt with. Horowhenua applied for a match against a team they are sending on tour. It was decided to offer them a match in Napier on a Saturday in August. It was agreed to enter a challenge for the Lady Carroll Shield, with the suggestion that it be played in August. Accounts amounting to £2 2/1 were passed for payment. Mr. Chapman resigned his position as custodian and Mr. Johnson was appointed in his place. It was decided to invite Gisborne and Wellington junior men's teams to visit Napier and also to send invitations to Manawatu and Wairoa senior men's teams. To assist the junior selectors it was decided to hold two possible and probable matches nest Saturday. Mr. O. Cross was appointed Benior selector.
